I don't "crush it" on all my goals. I have a few goals that are large and can be very overwhelming. I am looking at the progress a little differently now. So, with my Beat Yesterday mentality, I am making it simpler yet more powerful these days with the approach of focusing on incremental improvement day by day.
The beauty of Beat Yesterday: it's not about achieving the impossible. It's about being a little better than I was yesterday, even if it's just tiny steps. Did I manage to squeeze in an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill today? Great, I beat yesterday! Finding victory in finally tackling that one nagging task I have been putting off can be a bit of a confidence booster and a pat on the back that I am on the right track.
I know small wins might seem small and insignificant, but over time, they make for some big wins in reaching personal goals, and those victories keep ya motivated on the journey. Plus, focusing on daily victories fosters a positive mindset, so it sounds like a win to me.
So, how can you implement Beat Yesterday in your life?
1. Set Mini-Goals: Break down your larger goals into smaller, achievable daily tasks. It makes them less intimidating and allows you to track your progress better.
2. Track Your Wins: Just like you may track your steps with a Fitbit. Keep a journal to track progress. Seeing your progress over time is rewarding to keep on doing what your doing.
3. Focus on the Process: Self-doubt and imposter syndrome may creep in every now and again; focus on the efforts you put in each day and celebrate the small improvements.
4. Celebrate Every Win: I know I do, no matter how small. So, take a moment to acknowledge your accomplishments; they keep you motivated.
I am constantly reminding myself that Beat Yesterday is a personal journey and to stop trying to compete with others all the dang time. It's about becoming a better version of yourself, one step at a time. So, I'm embracing the power of progress and celebrating wins of beating yesterday each day.
